The problem I'm having with Resound hearing aids

I noticed several people mentioning Resound hearing aids in an earlier thread that is now locked, so I’m beginning a new one. Perhaps they are good, but the ones I bought in October have given me nothing but trouble despite sending them back to get worked on and having them reprogrammed from scratch by my hearing aid specialist at Costco.

I’m getting an echo out of the right side that they can’t seem to get rid of and I told my hearing aid specialist that I wanted to buy a new pair and return the ones I have for a refund, but she told me that the company wouldn’t allow that, which I think is bullshit. I’ve had several pairs of aids over the years and have had to get tweaks to many of them before they sounded okay, but despite sending my current ones back and having them worked on in the office on multiple occasions we can’t get rid of the rattling and echo sound. I’ve tried E-mailing Resound directly, but have heard nothing from them yet. I’m going back on Thursday to be fit for another pair, a different brand if I can help it, but never want another pair of Resounds no matter how great people think they are.

It’s kind of like if a seeing person got glasses with a huge scratch across one lens and when they sent them in to get worked on all they did was try to buff it a little and return them to the owner with a note that if it’s not good enough now it’s not their problem, but yours. Resounds seems to take the stance that the customer is always right, except in reverse. If they can’t fix their product so that it works for you it’s your fucking fault, not theirs. Consider yourselves warned!

Just to update... I sent the company an E-mail explaining my situation and they agreed to make a new pair and exchange them for my old ones so that's to their credit. I don't get them for another week, but I'm hopeful they'll be better than the first pair I got. Assume that's so, but if it's not I'll post an update.

I wonder if the echo is caused by an overactive noise cancelation feature.

Hi, Anthony! I really have no clue what was going on. My hearing aids were sent back to the factory to get worked on, but came back with the same echo. My hearing aid specialist adjusted them two or three times and the last time made me wish that I hadn't even bothered because she wiped the chip clean and started over from scratch while talking to one of the people from Resound and that made it even worse. Getting my new pair in a week so I'm hoping they work better.

Let's hope this pair works, for you. I'm almost happy with mine, and think they are the best. Mine are made by another company though. It starts with an S, and I don't know how to spell it. If I spell it wrong, I will probably embarrass myself.
Blessings,
Sarah

Sarah, you probably have Starkey hearing aids. How in the world do you change out the little wax guards? Those are a pain in the ass. I haven't had any problems with my Resound aids, but the app could be more accessible used to control them. I also hate when you are traveling and keep receiving text messages, as the aids switch to the Bluetooth program. So, I put my phone on do not disturb. The aids take a while to pair to the phone. Battery life sucks, and I guess we will never have rechargeable aids. That would be nice. I'm stuck with these Resounds until they die. Lol. I think it is crazy how expensive hearing aids are, especially if you have a progressive loss, requiring new ones more frequently when your hearing changes. I think an interesting advancement would be haptics in the aids. So, if you get a phone call, you feel a little tap against your ear. Something like that. And, of course, I've always wanted to try one of the fully waterproof aids from Siemens, as I do miss swimming and hearing simultaneously. Hope your new ones are better.

I remember my first pair of Resounds had this weird kind of stereo echo between the aids.
